Liana Popa is a student in the History Master’s Program at the University of Vienna, having completed Bachelor’s Degrees in Translation Studies and History.
For her Master's Thesis, she is investigating Maternal Mortality in Romania's Ceausescu Regime through a microhistorical lens, leaning on her strong research interest in contemporary women's and gender history.
She is a Tutor for the STEOP-Course "Introduction to Historical Studies" and student assistant for the two ERC-Projects HERESSEE (Ass.Prof.in Dr.in Zsófia Lóránd) and GLORE (Univ.Prof.in Dr.in Kerstin von Lingen) at the Department of Contemporary History in Vienna.
In 2024 she carried out an individual research project funded by the city of Vienna within the framework of an upcoming 2025-exhibition by the Vienna Museum and Univ. Prof. DDr. Oliver Rathkolb on Allied Cultural Politics during Vienna's Occupation Period (1945-1955).
She is also a scientific researcher at the Vienna Institute for Cultural and Contemporary History and Arts (VICCA) and has been part of several research projects lead by Univ. Prof. Dr. Bertrand Perz.
